Enrich and Inspire
Parents and Students enjoyed the Enrich and Inspire evening here at the Academy on the 5th December. They got an insight into the programme which will launch on Thursday 12th December.
Students have been selected based on their high achievement at the end of Y6, their current progress and potential for progression to Oxbridge and other Russell Group universities – essentially the most competitive, high performing universities in the country.
The ‘Enrich and Inspire’ programme follows on from the success of the HE+ (Higher Education Plus) programme that we have developed over the last 9 years with Homerton College, Cambridge for our Y12 and Y13 highest achieving students.
We are pleased to share that, this year, over 90% of those students who participated in the HE+ programme went on to secure first choice offers at Russell Group universities – studying subjects ranging from Maths through to Medicine. A former student who secured a place at Queens College, Cambridge to study medicine, is keeping us updated with the fantastic experiences that she is having.
As leaders of the HE+ programme we have gained a valuable insight and great understanding of the super-curricular learning habits that Oxbridge and other Russell Group universities demand of students. Students who are able to demonstrate these learning habits have a greater likelihood of being offered a place over other candidates with equally very high achievement at both GCSE and A-level.
Our simple aim through the ‘Enrich and Inspire’ programme is for our highest achieving students in Y7 and Y8 to establish an even greater sense of informed enthusiasm and commitment towards their subjects.
Core Principles:
Students will become competent and confident in using what they already know to engage with learning in new and unfamiliar contexts. Being confident includes having the self-assurance to take time to think about answering questions and solving problems.
